The Capsule Wardrobe Edition II Yummy Blog Maternity Shop

Part II

Our last blog post shared three easy steps to help you declutter your wardrobe, and if you followed them you’ve been left with a cupboard filled with clothes and accessories that only make you happy. But, we all know that you can’t make it through everyday life only owning your favourite soft jersey and LBD, especially if you’re pregnant. That’s when curating a capsule wardrobe becomes essential. A ‘capsule wardrobe’ was a termed coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called "Wardrobe" in the 1970s. It refers to a condensed wardrobe made of 30 or less high quality basics in coordinating colours. You should be able to wear these basics all year round, only buying a few seasonal or trendy pieces once or twice a year. You’re probably thinking that this all sounds very ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and most definitely does not apply to someone who is pregnant. How on earth could you find high-quality basics that will fit you throughout your whole pregnancy and beyond without stealing your partner’s tracksuit pants? A capsule maternity wardrobe uses pieces from your existing wardrobe (that now all spark joy) combined with high quality, versatile basics. We also highly recommend buying yourself a Yummy Mummy Tummy Belly Band, which lets you wear your pre-pregnancy favourites for just a little while longer. Our BodyWear MultiBuy Collection is the perfect place to start with basics. It’s made up of four items made from sustainably-sourced bamboo that grows with your bump without loosing its shape. These include: [products ids="381,51,565,531"] Pieces from your your existing wardrobe could be:
  • A loose-fitting cardigan, blazer or jacket
  • Empire waist dresses
  • Your favourite accessories like light scarves or hats
If you’re looking for inspiration, in April we partnered with two fabulous South African mama bloggers and challenged them to #stylethebump using our BodyWear MultiBuy Collection and items from their own closets. Mari-Louise from Just a Mamma and Luchae from My Spreadsheet Brain created 10 individual looks and we thought they looked amazing!
